XI'AN - Thirty-two people have been confirmed dead following a rain-triggered landslide onSaturday in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, according to the local rescue headquarters onThursday evening.
Rescuers recovered the last missing body on Tuesday afternoon, which ended rescue effortsand brought the final death toll to 32, said a spokesperson with the headquarters.
The landslide occurred around 2 pm on Saturday, burying a brick factory and destroying partof a ceramics plant in Baqiao, a suburban district in the provincial capital of Xi'an.
Three successive landslides occurred due to rains on Sunday, which briefly halted rescuework.
