32 confirmed dead in landslide in NW China


XI'AN - Thirty-two people have been confirmed dead following a rain-triggered landslide onSaturday in Northwest China's Shaanxi provinceaccording to the local rescue headquarters onThursday evening.
Rescuers recovered the last missing body on Tuesday afternoonwhich ended rescue effortsand brought the final death toll to 32, said a spokesperson with the headquarters.
The landslide occurred around 2 pm on Saturdayburying a brick factory and destroying partof a ceramics plant in Baqiaoa suburban district in the provincial capital of Xi'an.
Three successive landslides occurred due to rains on Sundaywhich briefly halted rescuework.
